The Mexican slang differs among the regions. Morro (kid) or plebes (friends) are used in the north part of Mexico whereas chavo or cuate are more frequently used in the central parts. Cities which are located in the coastal regions can take on the Afro-Caribbean touch that makes phrases have a different beat and taste. Even intonation varies regionally. Being aware of these differences aids the learners to know more about locals and will not be confused, particularly when travelling between various states where the use of slang varies significantly.
