My 2018 Pajero has started making that telltale grinding noise every time I brake, especially when I'm coming to a stop at traffic lights, and I know I've left the pads way too long. I've had bad experiences in the past where a garage told me they'd use genuine parts and then I found out later they'd put in cheap aftermarket ones that wore out in no time, so I'm a bit cautious this time around. I'm also wondering whether I should just pay a bit more and get the rotors replaced instead of skimmed, because I've heard skimming can sometimes leave them too thin and they'll warp again quickly in this heat.
